Chris Round

Chris Round lives and works in Sydney. He is primarily interested in documenting the everyday world, with a particular interest in landscapes featuring human interventions that visually activate their surroundings in strangely compelling ways. He is drawn to spaces that convey surreal or fictitious narratives; fortuitously photogenic environments that are carefully documented rather than photographically exaggerated. Some of his work also explores the notion of place in the context of his dual citizenship of Australia and the UK.

Round's work has been awarded both locally and internationally. Highlights include: Shortlisted and Winner Australia National Award, World Photo Awards; Prize winner & finalist, HeadOn Landscape prize; Winner Best Architectural Image, Kodak Salon, CCP Melbourne; Selected Josephine Ulrick & Win Schubert Prize; Prize winner & finalist Perth Centre for Photography CLIP award; FotoFilmic Shortlist & exhibitor; Moran Prize semi-finalist.

His work is held in the Parliament NSW Collection, Macquarie Group Collection, and private collections in Australia and UK
